Maryhill High School was started with the aim of promoting the education of the girl child to build the nation. The first Headmistress was Sr Mary Xavier (DMJ)
In the year of our Lord 1961, Rt. Rev Bishop Mary Ogez with the help the daughters of Mary and Joseph (DMJ) of England hatched a plan to s
tart this now a famous school. At the back of their mind was a burning urge to start a girls’ school which was unheard of Western Uganda. It is worthy noting that Uganda at that time was beginning to produce gallant men of high political caliber and as such, needed valiant ladies who in turn would walk side by side with them as they forged a way forward for the country that was to be born again.
